Saint Petersburg Stadium
Saint Petersburg Stadium can seat 61,000 people. Zenit moved there from Petrovsky Stadium in April 2017, beating Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast 2-0 in their first game. The arena hosted four matches at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, including the final, and will stage seven fixtures at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It was constructed on the site of the Kirov Stadium, home to Zenit until the early 1990s, on Krestovsky Island. The venue was designed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, whose vision was for a spaceship that had landed on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. The nearest metro station is Krestovsky Ostrov on the purple line, which runs through central Saint Petersburg.
What to see
For culture: Founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, the State Hermitage Museum houses over three million works of art and cultural artefacts, only a fraction of which are on display in 360 rooms. One of the largest museums in the world, the Hermitage is made up of five buildings, the most famous of which is the magnificent Winter Palace. For atmosphere: Thousands of tourists and locals gather on the banks of the river Neva every night from April to November to see the 'raising of the bridges'. The city has over 300 bridges, with 13 of them bascules (ones that can open and close to let river traffic through). Watching them go up – some in sequence, some alone, most lit up – is a great opportunity to explore the waterfront. For fresh air: Just off Palace Embankment, a short distance from Palace Square and the Hermitage, the Summer Garden is Saint Petersburg's oldest park.

Thanks you Abby and Varvara and all the other staff members of World of Discoveries for making our stay in Russia over 2 and a half weeks easy, comfortable and memorable. Thanks for the great organisation with transfers and accommodation. Thanks also for organising a phone sim card for each one in our group. It made our life much easier to stay in touch with each other and with our family and friends back home. We loved our stay in Russia and will certainly come back soon.

Everything worked like clockwork, when someone was suppose to be there they were. Yuri and Cathrine were excellent guides in Moscow and St. Petersburg and we learned a lot from both. We chose the 4 star hotels, and were very satisfied. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested.

Trans- Scandinavian train tour on a private, September 2019 I’s looking for a train trip around Scandinavia and found it was not widely available option with many operators. Mostly, they do coach tours or cruises. World of Discoveries was the first company which offered a solution, a privately arranged non-escorted train trip tour for our small party of just 6 people. We are experienced travelers in our early 40th and always want to be immersed in the culture of a new country, eat local food, meet the people. We wanted an authentic experience and it was a great trip all round. We did not have to worry about our accommodation, or train tickets, or activities in various locations. We had our transfers to and from hotels pre-arranged. Guides provided great insight into Scandinavian culture and were undeniably helpful as we all had different ideas about spare time and extra activities. We went out at every visited city and they gave us lots of great recommendations. Could have stayed for more! Would love the same experience when we visit other, less traveled and remote parts of the world with World of Discoveries! I am a very active person and did have some hesitation about the amount of driving which was required to complete this tour. However, despite bumpy roads, I found it pretty bearable overall. Distances are big, country is vast and underdeveloped but once it’s get more developed, you will not this sense of freedom and tranquility any more. I recommend going to Mongolia if you’re looking for a varied, culturally enriching experience of a life time framed by unbelievably beautiful landscapes. Locals were very welcome and guides were great and were always ready to help to explore more of their home country. Very safe country, very friendly people. Interesting food, but vegans might be starving.

I was extremely satisfied with my trip. Everyone at the agency have been courteous and helpful from the very beginning, trying to organize our 17 day World Cup experience. The guides and drivers are very professional and friendly, and the accommodations were simply superb. I highly recommend World of Discoveries as I know they will turn your trip into an unforgettable experience.

These guys has made my World Cup dream a reality and also provided a spectecular tour of Kazan, Samara & Sochi along the way! The team who made it happen were fantastic, organised, attentive and even fulfilled requests like having window seats on all 3 of my domestic flights not to mention the smooth transportations to and from airports. If you ever want to visit FIFA World Cup, “World of Dsicoveries” is the best way to go!!!!
